Hi, my name is Amanda Church, designer, writer, and all-around braintrust of this little corner of cyber-space, where I've been happily entrenched since 1999.
Though my background is in technical and copy writing and edting, I expanded into graphic and web design over ten years ago, and have since worked as a freelance designer/writer/editor.
This is the 11th version of Nytshadow Designs to go live. (We won't talk about how many never made it that far.)
The use of large color blocks is a departure from the graphics-heavy, dark look the last two generations of the site have had, but I look at this site as more than just a portfolio. It's my design guinea pig, where I try out new ideas and techniques.
In this redesign I've begun dabbling with some enhanced CSS3 features such as @font-face and text shadows, though unfortunately, if you're a pc user browsing with IE 7 or earlier, you probably can't see them.
If that's the case, take the time right now to upgrade your browser to something more standards compliant (and designer-friendly). Like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or even Internet Explorer 8.0.
They're absolutely free, so why not enjoy everything the web has to offer? Otherwise, it's like trying to watch HD movies on an old black and white TV.
